My history with scones has not always been a happy one. Dry, crumbly versions seemed to follow me wherever I went and I was always baffled when someone spoke of the moist, flavorful scones they ate at the Joe Blow coffee house down the road or in their grandmother’s kitchen. The only experience I had with a moist scone was when I accidentally dropped one into my cup of tea. And then, along came my husband’s cousin, who taught me to make her Crystallized Ginger & Chocolate Scones and turned my breakfast bread world upside down. Why, these little triangles were tender and flavorful…and completely addictive. I am a scone convert.
This recipe for Blueberry Streusel Scones is from Tasty Kitchen member ppkongacooks, otherwise known as Katrin from the blog Running with the Devil(ed) Eggs. Not only does Katrin hail from my homeland – she lives in Toronto, Canada – but her blog is filled with tempting recipes such as Red Curry Mango Chicken and Banana Split Ice Cream. Lucky for us, she always makes a mean scone, topped with a generous layer of sweet, buttery streusel.
