A wonderful reminder of gratitude in an original song by a young guitarist and singer.

A little something different today…
“Mum, a girl at school wrote a song and did a music video of it. It’s really, really good!”
I sat down at the computer with my middle schooler (M) and clicked over to YouTube to watch the girl pluck and strum her guitar, and bust out an original song that she named Happy. Her name is Elle Tracy and she sings of gratitude. Gratitude for friends and family, gratitude for the blessings of having a roof over her head and food on the table and gratitude for the place she’s in and where she’s going to be.
Her message hits home in a world that is filled with tumult. Sometimes we need to step back and count our blessings, be grateful for both the big things and the little things that shed a positive glow over the day and make us feel that we can go out and make a difference.
I’ll let Elle say the rest…
Thank you, Elle, for giving me permission to post this here. And thank you for your beautiful voice and message.

Dara, I’m so glad you shared this. It takes the insight of the youth to remind us of what is truly important, sometimes. Elle has a beautiful voice and and bright future ahead of her!

Oh my gosh Dara….I’m completely choked up. So many thoughts. I wrote a post on Gratitude yesterday about how it’s a choice of outlook and this talented girl really gets it. It’s in the simplicity of life, really, right? Just being happy for the day and those we love. I look forward to Elle’s career as a song writer, a poet and singer. What a beautiful post; thank you.

Hope you had a terrific Thanksgiving! We do need more reminders of gratitude and it is nice to hear new music with those sentiments.

It IS really really good! Such a sweet voice, message and is so talented. You daughter did the video of it? So smart and artistic!
Dara
Ginny – no, it’s not my daughter (I’m a boy mama). It’s a girl that my eldest son goes to school with. And yes, she really is incredibly talented!

I’ve always wanted to be able to play the guitar and sing like that. She has such a pretty voice and I can’t believe she wrote that song at such a young age!
Dara
I’ve always had that same dream too, Missy. And yes, she is incredibly talented!
