HEAT THE OLIVE OIL IN A LARGE SKILLET, THEN ADD THE ONIONS. COOK UNTIL SOFTENED, STIRRING OCCASIONALLY.

COVER AND COOK UNTIL THE ONIONS ARE GOLDEN BROWN, STIRRING AND ADDING WATER AS NEEDED.

ADD THE MUSHROOMS AND COOK UNTIL TENDER. STIR IN THE GARLIC, SALT AND RED PEPPER FLAKES.

COOK THE PASTA UNTIL AL DENTE. ADD THE BROCCOLI TO THE WATER IN THE LAST MINUTE OF COOKING. TOSS WITH PARMESAN.

MAKE-AHEAD

Store in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Reheat in the microwave or on the stovetop.
