Absolutely love this recipe! Question... how deep should the 9-inch pans be?? I have trouble with them running over!!! What a mess!!!

Hi Lynn, 9-inch cake pans are typically 2-3 inches deep. Mine are 2 1/2 inches and work well for this recipe.

I followed this recipe to a T - the only 2 differences are that I used 2 1/2 cups instead of 3 for the sugar and I spread a layer of fresh raspberry puree on each layer - it was a hit - everyone loved it - its was extremely moist and very chocolatey even the day after - definitely a keeper - thank you Dara.
