This refreshing Clementine and Lemon Gin Cocktail would be fantastic at your next brunch or Friday night cocktail hour. Thanks to Sipp Eco Beverage Co. for helping me to share this recipe with you.
We all have certain food vices that we just can't seem to overcome. You know what I'm talking about - that thing we can't stop eating, just because it's sitting in front of us, no matter how full we might be. For me, those things are chips (salt and vinegar, Doritos, barbecue...I'm not picky) and creamy cheeses (Brie!). For some of my friends, that thing is soda, diet or full-sugar.
If you're someone who battles giving up soda, whether to save on calories or for other health reasons (yeah, sorry, even the diet stuff has its drawbacks), figuring out some things to replace it with could be a positive step.
Do you like soda for its fizz and sweet flavor? Maybe you could replace some of the Diet Cokes with a fresh fruit sparkler or even some sparkling water with a squeeze of lemon or lime. Those choices will help you hydrate too, which is the focus of our Healthy New Year Six Week Challenge this week.
If none of those ideas cut it for you, how about a soda that has an ingredient list with no mystery items? I was so excited to find Sipp Sparkling Organics, particularly since my younger son loves drinking soda every now and then. The ingredient lists are filled with organic extracts, teas, honey, herbs, and agave for sweetness. Yeah, I can get behind that.
And to make things even better, each 12-ounce bottle contains only 100 calories and the flavor choices read like something on a menu of a fancy spa restaurant. Ginger Blossom, Lemon Flower, Mojo Berry and Summer Pear. Yes, yes, yes and yes!
For this cocktail, I dove into the collection of clementines that we always have on hand at this time of year. The fresh juice is so sweet and fresh, and makes a wonderful, seasonal cocktail that would be fantastic with a plateful of French toast or waffles at next weekend's brunch. Or you could serve it alongside some creamy cheeses. What?! How convenient that this drink pairs well with one of my vices, you say? I take the fifth.
And what's with the tarragon you see in the photos? The Sipp soda I used in this cocktail (Lemon Flower) also has hints of elderflower and tarragon. That's a very good thing!
For those of you who are watching your sugar and carbohydrate intake (hand raised here), I did a comparison of this cocktail using the Sipp cocktail versus Sprite. The Sipp version has 10.8 grams of sugar and 19.5 grams of carbohydrates, while the Sprite version has 19.3 grams and 27.0 grams of sugar and carbohydrates, respectively.

Dara, this looks sssooo refreshing, and I love the color! I can almost taste it from here! But, since I can't, I'm going to have to make it at home!

Strangely enough, it was easy for me to give up the soda. Giving up the chips? That is killing me. Regardless, this cocktail looks amazing.

I know this is probably a stupid question, but how do you get the juice from clementines. Use a reamer? I've never thought about trying to get the juice from them.

There are so many foods that I can't stop munching on once I get started!! Mostly salty/spicy foods (I get tired of sweet pretty quickly). I love this cocktail recipe!! I love that you have added tarragon - what a nice touch! 🙂

I love this recipe. Clementines are the best and why not in cocktails. I already pinned it this morning but then I decided it was Stumble-worthy too!
