Grilling & Backyard Barbecue Recipes for Labor Day

Grilling & Backyard Barbecue Recipes for Labor Day

At the beginning of the week, I inundated you with photos of our summer (okay, there was a darn tasty grilled steak recipe, too) and I rambled on about my love of fall. Now that Labor Day (Labour Day for my Canadian friends) is almost here and we’re sifting through our grilling recipes for the weekend, I’m feeling a little nostalgic about the carefree summer days. The kids are back at school (see the back to school whole wheat quick bread) and we’re already in the throws of homework, soccer games, kung-fu tournaments and early mornings.

T Kung-Fu

Speaking of kung-fu tournaments, I have to take a moment to tell you how excited and proud we were when our youngest son (T) took first place in his first tournament. He got up in front of a room full of people and performed his kung-fu form with confidence. Every child there showed sportsmanship, thanking the judges and congratulating each other. Each morning, T carries the trophy downstairs and sets it on the mantle. At night, he hoists it over his shoulder and takes it back up to his room. He’s a proud boy!

Back to Labor Day…I pulled together our favorite recipes from the summer grilling season. There’s a little something for everyone, from pasta salads and meatless entrees to succulent steaks and fruit-filled desserts. Have a wonderful long weekend!

Reminder: Don’t forget to enter on Monday’s post for a chance to win this awesome portable grill and a stack of Bush’s Beans.

Wish I would have seen these amazing recipes for labour day. I hit a rut and was looking for ideas. Thankfully summer will roll on a bit longer and I’ll have more occasions to try out this tasty food. Btw, big congrats on your son’s trophy. I remember doing the same thing with my first tennis trophy..and he’ll always remember that moment too.
