If you’re looking for last-minute Halloween party ideas, this post has it all: appetizers and snacks, drinks, treats and crafts.
Halloween is almost here, and the ghosts and goblins are starting to roam around our house. Our 11-year old (M) chose a costume that is sure to freak out any first-graders in the school Halloween parade. We’re calling it a “ghoul”…lots of black, draped with gray netted fabric and punctuated by glowing red eyes behind the black fabric. A creepy ghoul! The younger one (T) is taking a more traditional route…Batman. The caped crusader shows up at breakfast and dinner, and at random times throughout the day.

This weekend we visited one of the local pumpkin patches. Now I’m wondering why we’ve always bought our pumpkins at the supermarket. It seems we’ve missed a key part of the Halloween experience by sifting through boxes in an asphalt parking lot.
The kids wandered scoured the rows and rows of pumpkins, looking for the perfect specimens that would make the ideal backgrounds for the carving designs they dreamed up. We loaded the pumpkins into a wheelbarrow while the kids clambered onto the tractors, about 12 of them in varying colors and sizes.
Now, if you have a wheelbarrow at your disposal, you can’t just use it for carting pumpkin from A to B. Oh no, the wheelbarrow is practically begging to be used for high-speed rides across bumpy grass-covered parking lots. It was all fun and games until the wheelbarrow hit a divot and the boys took a flight forward that rivaled Superman at his finest. It somehow seemed appropriate that the Halloween outing ended with a bloody nose. Thankfully, everyone is fine!

Fun day picking pumpkins! We wimped out and just got one at the grocery store. Kids had a ball scooping out the guts, though.
What a great round up! Thanks for including my caramel apples. I don’t think I enjoyed halloween this much when I was a kid. I am definitely having more fun with this holiday and with my own kids!
Love this sweet Halloween recap Dara. I don’t like it too gory so this is exactly my family friendly speed!
