"Mum, there is going to be a new ocean tomorrow."
"Why's that, T?"
"Because of all the tears we've cried."
The past two days have been rough. On Wednesday evening, we had to say good-bye to our sweet pup, Tiana. She has been with us since she was 18 months old, when she had a "career change" and left the guide dog training program. She has been in our boys' lives for as long as they can remember and we were all deeply attached to her gentle nature and kind soul.
Each day since she's been gone, we've looked for her at the back door, on her favorite soft bed and beside us as we walk up to bed each night. We can't seem to stop looking for her. Our minds won't let us believe that she is truly gone.
Tiana was not just a pet, she was truly a member of our family. Our memories of daily life, holidays with our families and camping trips are entwined with memories of her.
They are good memories and we will will treasure those forever.
But, oh, how she will be missed.
Rest easy, sweet girl. We love you to the ends of the earth.

Dara,
I'm so sorry for your loss. Losing our beloved pets is such a sad time. We lost our Sally last June and her litter brother Dodger is in his last days. I gave him a bath on Thursday and cried most of the time, thinking of these wonderful thirteen years and how this was probably his very last bath. My heart goes out to you and your family.

I am so very sorry for your loss and the seemingly unending ache and emptiness that your loss has left behind. Your words described my last 2 weeks as my beautiful kitty Honey left for the Rainbow Bridge as well.
Cindi
Tears in my eyes as I remember all the wonderful pets over the years that we've said goodbye to. Feeling your pain.

Oh friend... I am so so so sorry 🙁

So sorry for your loss - such a difficult thing to go through. Our puppy looks very similar to your sweet girl and this story made me tear up!

My heart aches for your loss, I have been there several times and it is never an easy thing to deal with. I'm crying as I write this and I'm sure many other readers have as well. Love the picture in the snow, you can see that she was a sweet soul. I hope my Darby has met her on the other side and that they are playing and romping around together.

My heart is broken for you and your family. They are such an important piece of the family that it just leaves a space that's hard to fill.

I never trust anyone who doesn't like dogs. We've had dogs our whole lives and I wouldn't have it any other way. They provide unconditional love and companionship. They cheer you up when you're down and comfort you when you need it. They add a dimension to our lives that no other being can provide.
Jim Stafford has a line in his rendition of "Mr. Bojangles" that goes something like, "why is a dog's life so short, but he has to die so old." During their short time with us they give us much more than we can ever give back to them,

Dogs are a blessing to us. I think you were a blessing to this dear girl. She leaves a happy home to another dog who needs one.
